Velocity Studios · a UK software studio

Engineering software with a pulse.

We build professional design and simulation tools, held to the standard of the engineering software they sit beside. Our first product is Heartline: a roller coaster design suite built to be the most capable ever made.

Our first product

Heartline: design by intent, feel every force, ride any seat.

Design track by the forces riders should feel, by its shape, or both. A solver builds what you ask for. The physics runs live at 1,000 steps a second. And the whole world around it, from terrain to photoreal cinematics, is part of the plan.

Showcase

Where it’s going. What exists today.

A design concept of the planned Designer mode, beside a real screenshot of Heartline’s editor from an in-development build.

The Designer workspace

The concept set the layout and the rules; the real editor shell already follows them.

What exists today

The real Heartline editor in a development build: a perspective view of a coaster test track coloured by design speed, with the outliner of sections on the left and the inspector showing values at the cursor on the right. Real screenshot

Why it’s different

Not another coaster toy. A new kind of design tool.

  1. Intent-based design, with a real solver

Pin what must be true, say what may change, and a solver finds the track. No more hand-tuning curves until the forces come out right.

  2. Live physics at 1 kHz, exactly repeatable

The train is simulated 1,000 times a second, deterministically. Same design, same result, bit for bit, every time.

  3. For enthusiasts and professionals alike

Simple, Designer and Engineering modes work on the same file. Start with a loop in minutes; go all the way to per-seat-row analysis.

  4. A real-time engine for the world, an engineering core underneath

Unreal Engine 5 makes designs explorable and beautiful. Underneath, the design data and the physics live in a plain, tested engineering core.

Where we are

Four milestones complete. The editor is being built now.

The track maths, the engine, the simulation and the first ride in Heartline’s own window are done. Phase 5, the editor, is under way: the milestone where you build a complete coaster inside Heartline. Track editing and the design solver already run in the editor; ride hardware, trains and Operate are being built now.

  1. M1Track math proven: done
  2. M2Engine confirmed: done
  3. M3Trains run: done
  4. M4First ride in Unreal: done
  5. M5Build a coaster: now
  6. M6Sculpt the site: planned
  7. M7Real coasters: planned
  8. M8It looks real: planned
  9. M9A living world: planned
  10. M10Feature complete: planned
  11. M11First release: planned

How we work

Three rules behind everything we build.

Engineering software is only useful if people can trust its numbers.

Accuracy first

Results trace back to tested code. We check our physics against cases with known answers and published literature, never against other tools’ output.

Built like professional tools

Precision, speed and reliability come first: exact numeric input, units on every value, undo for every action. The habits of CAD and engineering software, not of games.

Honest about status

Every feature we describe carries a badge: built, in development or planned. Our software supports engineering judgement; it doesn’t replace it, and it doesn’t certify anything.
